Our focus is mainly
on teaching your child about horseback riding and care of the horse. We
teach your child to love the horse and all the fun that goes along with
english and western riding. Our program incorporates good horsemanship
and team work, while the children help each other to understand the
basics or riding all the way up to advanced horseback riding skills.
The campers ride in the riding arena daily (weather permitting) and
learn the overall basics of riding or improve the riding skills they
have already acquired. They even get to go on a trail ride through our
45 acre mini ranch. They ride past the pet cemetery and the rustic
"postal" bunk house (it used to be an ole post office) and then back
through the trails. Maybe they will see a deer or two or maybe a crazy
jack rabbit. We divide the camp into small groups (average about 6-7)
based on their age, level and who their friends are . You will be
amazed at what the kids can learn about horses in a week, much less all
summer. Hopefully you can come watch on Friday as they show off their
new/old talent. The kids will learn parts of the horse , saddle ,
bridle and other equipment. We will teach them safety while riding and
when around the animals. They will learn the different medical
conditions and about leg wrapping techniques for exercising the horse or
treating an injury. Campers will also learn mounted exercises to help
the riders physical condition and different emergency procedures to take
if needed.
II. COWBOY CAMP - Sunday June 26th -
Friday July 1st 2011
BOYS ONLY AGES
8-14 $ 595.00
Boys will arrive at
the HCF rustic bunk house and pick one of the many bunk beds or maybe
they will prefer a bunk in the ranch barn shed adjoining. The ranch bunk
house originates from the late 1800's and has had a little modernization
, with a bathroom, shower , & fans. NO TELEVISION or CELL PHONES .
Everyone will acquaint with each other and tell where they are from. In
the past we have had campers from all around the world and we welcome
them. Your boys will get to experience the Texas hill country telling
stories around the camp fire, riding horses daily, swimming in our big
above ground pool, visits to Pioneer Town, Cowboy Musuem, Wonderworld
and who knows what else might come along. Fishing, archery, hiking ,
arts and crafts also might be part of the fun. Learning to care for the
horse and his tack, roping goats, horseback trail rides, painting rocks,
field trips to local attractions, and out for an ice cream might be
part of a fun day at Cowboy camp. Country Cooking is another thing the
boys are wild about. Eggs, Bacon, biscuits , pancakes, fruit, sausage,
orange juice make a great way to start the day. We do all the cooking
right here in our house and the kids become part of the family and
everyone eats well when they are bunkin' with us. What a great way for
your son to have a summer vacation while gettin' down and dirty at this
great cowboys camp! Our Camps are family owned and operated and are very
small and personalized.
